Menu Plan Monday! 1/5/09

I've been SO bad with menu planning lately (as you can tell from the lack of posts...). I've actually still been doing them since my last MPM...actaully sticking to them has been another story. We've eaten out WAY more that I'd care to say lately and it's time to get back on track.

DH got a new wok and I got a new crockpot for Christmas so I'm trying to use each of them once a week. DH has also decided to try and cut out all red meat and pork products as much as possible. He's hoping it will help his cholesterol as well as spur some weight loss. Fortunately, we used ground turkey in place of ground beef already and rarely have anything other than that and chicken breasts at home. We do have leftover ham in the freezer from Christmas to use up this week though!

Monday 1/5: Tacos
Tuesday 1/6: Turkey Meatloaf, Mashed Potatoes, Corn
Wednesday 1/7: Chicken Parm, Pasta, Salad
Thursday 1/8: Shrimp Chow Mein
Friday 1/9: Ham, Stuffing, Asparagus
Saturday 1/10: Pizza Pockets, Salad
Sunday 1/11: Veggie Omlettes, Biscuits/Gravy
Monday 1/12: Crockpot Chicken and Mushrooms, Rice, Salad

Head on over to OrgJunkie for more menus!

Looks great and keep up the good work. Writing the menu out is a start - with the new year we can all stick with our plans!

Looks like a good menu for the week. I try to cut back on our red meat intake as well, to about 1x a week but the past few weeks that hasn't worked real well. If hubby can get either a moose or caribou in the fall then it won't be too difficult as the wild game is much healthier than domestic.

I need to work at getting more salmon, since we have a freezer half full of it, in our diet. The boy gets tired of chicken if we have it too often.

High cholestrol has always been an issue in my health. I've found that by increasing the fruits and veggies, grilling and baking and eating more poultry and fish has definitely helped. He can still have his red meat and pork but increase the good foods.
And everyone in the family has to follow the new lifestyle. It makes it easy on you and teaching the kidlets good eating habits.
